Fast growth on the internet

We've heard it all. The internet is growing fast. Here are two nice infographics of what happens in one intenet minute. It shows that mobile computing is driving the current internet growth. Has your strategy  encompassed this in any way? And are you ready for the growth still to come.

One thing that is to come: doubling the networked devices in three years. Using the 70-rule, indicates that the growth rate is 70/3=23% year over year. You may think that the growth will quickly come to a stop; when  every person on earth holds 2, 3 or even 10 internet addresses, it would more or less be the maximum. But since IPv6 promisses virtually infinte addresses, the effect will be that much more items receive IP addresses, including a lot of non-IT devices (refrigirator, implants, little independent monitoring agents, etc.). So in 2018 the number of 'networked devices' will be around 30 billion!

And the more devices te exponentially more the connections! And it all needs to be processed. Including your business and your customers' business. What are you doing to adapt to the mobile consumption of data and information?

Another thing that hits me when looking at these, basically, cloud applications is: how will our and your business grow towards the YouTube and Twitter styles. It looks that many companies transform their current business by throwing a 'cloud'-jacket over it. The future survivors are more likely to have invented a new business model to encorparate what cloud really means, can and does ...
